Publication Ethics Statement and Guidelines

For committing highest standard in online publication, Journal of Applied Mechanical Technology clarifies ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in our journals, including the authors, editors, peer-reviewers and publisher, Mechanical Engineering Department, Polindra. The prevention on publication malpractice is one of important responsibilities of editorial team. Any kind of unethical behavior is not acceptable, and the Editorial Board of this journal determines whether the article published or not.

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

Publication of JAMET is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge which is committed to the purpose and conducted in fair double-blind peer-review on submitted articles. Double-blind peer-review is conducted to avoid any potential conflict of interests between editorial, reviewers, and authors. It is a direct reflection of authors’ qualified works and institutions that give them support. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the authors, the journal editors, the peer reviewers, and the publisher. 

Politeknik Negeri Indramayu and Mechanical Engineering Department as publishers of this Journal take its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing seriously and we recognize our ethical and other responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions.

Publication decisions

Editors of JAMET are responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. The editors may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair play

An editor at any time evaluates manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

Editors and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to any other parties than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of Journal Manager

  • Determining the name of the journal, scope of science, scale, and accreditation if necessary.
  • Determining the editorial board membership.
  • Defining relationships between publishers, editors, best partners, and other parties in a contract.
  • Respecting confidential matters, both for contributing researchers, authors / writers, editors, and best partners.
  • Implementing norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, specifically copyright.
  • Reviewing journal policies and submit them to authors / writers, board editors, best partners, and readers.
  • Making a code of conduct guide for editors and best partners.
  • Publishing journals regularly.
  • Guaranteeing the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of journal publishing.
  • Building a network of cooperation and marketing.
  • Preparing permits and other legal aspects.

Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

  • Meeting the needs of readers and authors / writers,
  • Striving to improve the quality of publications on an ongoing basis,
  • Implementing the process to guarantee the quality of published papers,
  • Prioritizing freedom of opinion objectively,
  • Maintaining the integrity of the academic track record of the author,
  • Submitting corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, and apologies if needed,
  • Responsible for the style and format of the writing, while the contents and all statements in the paper are the responsibility of the author / writer,
  • Actively asking the opinion of authors, readers, bestari partners, and members of the editorial board to improve the quality of publications,
  • Encouraging the assessment of journals if there are findings,
  • Supporting initiatives to reduce research and publication errors by asking authors to attach an Ethics Clearance form that has been approved by the Ethics Clearance Commission,
  • Supporting initiatives to educate researchers about the ethics of publication,
  • Assessing the effects of policy issues on the attitudes of authors / authors and best partners and improve them to increase responsibility and minimize errors,
  • Having an open mind about new opinions or other people's views that might conflict with personal opinions,
  • Not defending their own opinions, authors or third parties that can lead to non-objective decisions,
  • Encouraging authors / writers, so they can make repairs to papers until they are worth publishing.

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Getting the task from the editor to review the paper objectively and submit the results of the review to the editor, as material for determining the feasibility of a paper to be published. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
  • Informing the editor if a reviewer feels it is not possible for him/her to complete review of manuscript within stipulated time so that the manuscript could be sent to another reviewer
  • Not conducting a study of a paper that involves him or herself, directly or indirectly
  • Maintaining the privacy of authors by not disseminating the results of corrections, suggestions, and recommendations. Reviewers should keep all information regarding papers confidential and treat them as privileged information.
  • Being suggested to identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors
  • Encouraging the author / writer to make improvements to the paper
  • Revisiting written works that have been corrected according to predetermined standards.
  • Written papers are reviewed in a timely manner according to the confinement published based on scientific rules (methods of data collection, legality of authors, conclusions, etc.).
  • Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

  • Ensuring that what is included in the list of authors / authors meets the criteria as an author / writer.
  • Ensuring that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.
  • Collectively responsible for the work and the contents of the article include methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
  • Not publishing manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication.
  • Stating the origin of resources (including funding), both directly and indirectly.
  • Explaining the limitations of the study
  • Responding to comments made by reviewers in a professional and timely manner.
  • Informing the editor if he will retract the paper.
  • Making a statement that the paper submitted for publication is authentic, has never been published anywhere in any language, and is not in the process of being submitted to another publisher.
  • Promptly notifying the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper when an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work
